I've had a bad couple of months! Added to the regular influx
of between 60 and 100 normal scam emails a day I seem to have had
far more than my fair share of donation scammers. Ahmed Sadiq is
one such scammer.
When I received Ahmed's introduction email, I was a bit too
busy to indulge him and decided to tell him exactly what I thought
of him. Ahmed made the mistake of continuing his correspondence
with me, probably under the delusion that he could extract money
from me.
I take on the identity of two different"victims" in
this particular scambait. Lance Myboyle is the Managing Director
of a large communications company, and then we have father Bruce
Corbin, head of the accounts department of the Holy Church of The
Tattooed Saint!
A tip for any prospective scammers who may be reading this;
please do your research!

Good day,
May the innumerable peace that Allah brings be and remain with
you. Yeah yeah Ahmed. Whatever. I know this might be the
first of its kind. Please bear with me.
I am Ahmed Sadiq, a university undergraduate of Weister City University,
London (?!). Ever since I was a boy, I have dreamed of visiting
the Holy Ground (Gracelands?) Mecca (oh). It has been
my utmost heart desire that one day I will make it to be part of
the struggle for Allah's sake. Having the burning sensation of working
for Allah to a great height, I feel that this vision will only be
complete if I finally reach there. Careful Ahmed. I'm sure that
burning sensation is probably a urinary tract infection. Better
get it checked out.
This was why four (4) of us were chosen in my school to be part
of this year's fasting. So preparations are been made now for our
travel but there is a little problem.
And this problem is my main aim of writing. The school sponsored
us partly and had told us to complete the money for our flight tickets.
I have sourced for funds everywhere; I have even sold some of my
new books but all to no avail. So I resorted to this means. And
I pray that this little sum wont hold me back in the fight for Allah's
supremacy.
All I need is, please, a support towards this dream. The travel
tickets are ready and preparations are almost complete for our travel.
Please I beg of you, may Allah replenish abundantly anything you
can sacrifice for his service. Anything you can offer me will be
highly appreciated I look forward to hearing from you soon.

would gain your help.
Truly, I am a Nigerian, schooling in Nigeria but because of
the upsurge of crime and corruption in Nigeria, I reasoned that
mere mentioning of my nationality as Nigeria will scare you aware
and thereby prevent my dreams. That was why I faked London. Still
you found out. Once more I plead that you forgive me.
Please sir, believe me, it was because of the bleakness in achieving
this dream that resorted me to this. Yes we are given the opportunity
for the travel on the condition of funding ourselves. I have tried
immensely sir but all my efforts still plead for a support. And
as I told you, long since I have nursed the ambition of visiting

Dear Mr. Sadiq,
Well I am grateful at least that you have come to finally tell me
the truth, and you are to be respected for that. I know nothing
of Nigeria so why you should try to hide the fact that you are there
is a puzzle to me.
Unfortunately, even though you have been truthful to me finally,
I am not in a position to help you. My business already funds many
charities already and we cannot really take on any more cases.
However, I can give you the contact details of Father Bruce Corbin,
who is the head of the church that I am a member of. I do know that
they do indeed give financial and spiritual help to people from
all over the world. I must warn you however that I am unsure if
Father Corbin will be able to help you as I know donations are usually
only given to church members. You can contact him if you wish, and
if you tell him that Lance Myboyle has given you his contact details
he may look on you more favourably. His email address is [email protected]
Father Corbin is head of the accounts department for the Holy Church

Good day Father Corbin,
Please bear with me. I know you don't know me. A member of your
church by name Lance Myboyle, the Managing Director: Dark Side Communications
(www.the-dark-side.co.uk) linked me up to you.
I am Ahmed Sadiq, a university undergraduate from Nigeria. Ever
since I was a boy, I have dreamed of visiting the Holy Ground, Mecca.
And graciously, last month, due to the burning sensation in us to

That was why I reached Lance Myboyle for help and he helped
me by re-directing me to you of the view that his church, the Holy
Church of The Tattooed Saint of
which you are the Head of the Accounts Department can help me. He
told me you give spiritual and financial help to people all over
the world, so I decided to plead for your concern. Father Bruce,
please, right now I am hopeless and the exercise will be terminating
soon.
Please Father, notwithstanding the distance, I beg of you, anything
you will offer me to achieve this my lifetime dream, I will never
forget. I am pleading father.
Once more, I commend your spirit of philanthropism. As Lance
Myboyle has talked much good about you and your church, I pray that
you consider my situation, as

Dear brother Sadiq,
Thank you so much for your email it is very nice to receive your
message.
Yes I do know Lance Myboyle very well. He has been with our church
for nearly 18 years and is a very generous man. Please pass on my
regards to him the next time you speak with him. I know the Mr.
Boyle's company do help many many charities in the UK so I must
say that it is little surprise to me that he is unable to help because
I do know that his company spend many many hundreds of thousands
of dollars a year to help the less privileged. I would urge you
not to take any rejection from him too hard. I know from experience
that he is a very good and caring man.
Regarding your request and what you seek. It is a very noble cause
that you are striving for and I will pray for you this evening that
you find what you are seeking.
I would usually be in a position to offer you much help in your
current situation, but I am bound by certain rules of our church.
I can see that you are in great need of help, and believe me I do
feel for you. Under normal circumstances I would be willing to authorise
my church to send you a donation of perhaps $15,000.00 or $20,000.00
to help you, however I am afraid that such financial help is only
given to members of our own church. If you were a member of our
ministry then I could help you financially, however because that
is not the case I am very sorry but there is nothing I can offer
you except my prayers.
Of course if you were to join our church then of course we could
offer you immediate help, however I would not expect an outsider
to be willing to complete our church induction procedure as it required
considerable commitment.
I will however wish you much luck finding a benefactor and you will
be remembered in our prayers this evening.

spirit of generosity not cost you anything, may it lead you to greater
heights and opportunities in life.
As you confirmed it, Lance Myboyle also is good, charitable
and helps the less privileged but he explained to me that his company
has finished for this year's charity help. He would have helped
me but he said they cannot help any further this year. That was
why he re -directed me to you. Actually Ahmed. I redirected
you to Father Corbin because you're a gullible ass.
Please Father, judging from your last reply, I know left for
you alone, you would help me if not for the sake of your church's
rule. Lance Myboyle also told me that. But father I plead for your
consideration, the exercise is fast terminating, that is why I sound
desperate. What ever you want me to do to make sure I attract your
sympathy, I will do it, just find it in your heart to help me please.

Dear Brother Sadiq,
Bless you for your very quite response to my email, thank you.
Brother Sadiq, I have to tell you that I am extremely thrilled that
you are indeed considering joining our church. Your commitment is
to be admired greatly. However you must understand that in order
for me to be able to help you it means you will have to join our
church, and you must (like all our members) prove your absolute
devotion to our cause and church. The induction procedure is simple,
but you must be warned that it must not be taken upon lightly.
I must tell you that to join our church you must show great commitments,
however the rewards are great. Once you have become a member and
have completed the induction procedure I am sure that my board members
can help you with a most generous donation, especially if you are
in agreement to help spread the word of my church in your country.
I cannot give you a firm commitment as to the amount of the donation
we can send to you to help others, but it is normal in these types
of cases for my church to offer sums of between $20,000 to $40,000.
Of course, in order to receive such a donation you must become a
full and willing member of our church.
Again I must repeat I that to enter our ranks does take great commitment.
All members of our church (myself included) must bear the tattoo
mark of our saint, Saint Bartholomew Shiver. This mark of faith
is tattooed on to each individual member of our church. Not only
does this serve as a graphic reminder of our commitment to our faith,
but all over the world it helps us to recognise our brothers and
sisters. It is a golden rule of our church that our members must
do everything in their power to help and aid fellow members.
So, to be inducted into our church, you must agree to the following:
1. Agree to have a tattoo showing the mark and name of Saint Bartholomew
Shiver. This can be placed on any part of your body. Most of our
members have this placed on their arms.
2. Provide photographic proof of the tattoo mark.
3. Complete our church induction form. This is a very simple form
which you need to sign to agree to our rules, regulation and devotion
to our patron saint Bartholomew.
4. Agree to use any donations sent to you for the good of your fellow
men & women.
If you can agree to the above requirements then I see no reason
why we cannot start your induction procedure immediately. On receipt
of the photographic proof of your tattoo mark of St. Bartholomew
and on receipt of the completed induction form we can provide you
with a generous donation and regular help within 24 hours of receiving
the photographic proof. We will also of course send much information
by posts contain our scriptures, information about the church, and
how we would like you to help spread word of our church and cause.
Let me know if you are in agreement to the above requirements and
I will forward you more detailed information and also a picture
of the tattoo mark of St. Bartholomew so that you can make your
own arrangements to have the tattoo applied at your place of choosing.
Of course agreeing to have a tattoo placed upon your body is a very
important one, and committing yourself to this is a great request,
but it is exactly this which will show us your willingness to be
a part of our ministry.
Please note that you must be able to fund the tattoo and photographs
yourself. We will of course refund you all your costs as well as
provide the donation to you, however this can only be given once
the induction procedure has been completed successfully.

Yes I will do whatever you say so that this my lifetime dream will

1. We don't have that kind of church down here in our country
so how can I be following your proceedings
2. Tattooing is not common in my country and hardly can you see
the tattoo markers.

Dear Brother Sadiq,
Thank you for your message.
My brother, I have given you my offer of help. My church can help
you financially with a donation of perhaps $18,00 to $20,000 but
in order to receive it you must be a member of our church. It is
totally up you whether you have the willingness and ability to do
this. I will not under any circumstances want you to feel forced
to join us however I must reiterate that if you require our financial
help then that is what you must do.
I shall try to answer your questions as much as I can:
1. We realise there is no church branch of ours in your area, which
is why the donation amount will be so much. With some of the money
we send to you we hope that you will aid us in setting up a church
or information point in your areas. If you forward me your full
mailing address I will be most happy to post you some of out literature
and brochures explaining all about our church.
2. I cannot help you in the respect of tattoo markers. If you are
unable to get the tattoo mark then of course we can not help you.
3. The induction time is totally up to you. The sooner you are able
to supply photographs of your tattoo process then the sooner we
can make the donation payment to you. We can forward the donation
payment to you within 24 hours of receiving the photographic evidence
of your tattoo mark. As an example we had a gentleman in Nairobi,
Kenya by the name of Akeem Franklin who completed the procedure
in three days and he received a $23,750 donation payment immediately.
He is now using the payment to spread the word of our church in
his township (Westlands), and next year he is coming to meet with
us at our annual members gathering in London.
I hope that help you brother Sadiq, and if you decide you wish to
proceed then let me know as soon as possible and I will forward
you more detailed instructions.
Please note that under no circumstances whatsoever can I offer you
any financial help unless you have completed the induction procedure.
If you cannot do this then I am very sorry but I cannot help you.
It is not my decision, it is the way that my church has been run
for many years.

From: Father Bruce Corbin

Dear Brother Sadiq,
Thank you so much for your reply.
I am very excited that we are soon to have a new member from your
country, indeed, so far we have no members at all in your area and
we would be thrilled if you are able to help spread the word about
our ministry there.
As you have requested, the induction information is as follows.
Please take care to follow the procedures very carefully. The four
church board members will decide on your donation amount which depends
on how strictly you have kept to our procedure.
The induction procedure, which we call "the baiting of the
faithful" should take very little time to complete. How long
this takes is completely up to you and how quickly you are able
to present the photographic evidence that you have completed our
procedure to the satisfaction of the four church board members.
As I told you previously, the faster that you are able to complete
the procedure the faster you will receive our financial help.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. I have attached a sample image of our induction logo. It bears
the name of our Saint, St. Bartholomew Shiver. Phase one of the
induction procedure is to have a copy of this logo tattooed onto
a part of your body.
2. You may choose the part of the body which you feel comfortable
with having the tattoo, however you must ensure that the completed
tattoo is large and clear so as to be able to be photographed clearly.
To aid you, I have also included a photograph of one of our recent
inductees, Mary Jane Branson. As you can see, Mary chose to have
the induction logo tattoo on her right shoulder.
3. You must ensure that photographs of as much of the tattooing
procedure are taken as possible. Take photographs of the various
steps of having the tattoo applied.
4. You must supply various photographs of the tattoo from different
viewing angles, and also a photograph of yourself for identification,
and if possible, showing the tattoo at the same time.
** VERY IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY ***
You must understand that the tattoo MUST be a real tattoo, not a
drawing or other type of fake tattoo. In other words, being a real
tattoo you will of course have it with you for life, so it is important
that you are absolutely sure and happy about your decision to join
our church.
Of course, as you will know, real tattoos leave slight scarring
for the first few days until they heal. Photos MUST be supplied
so as to provide proof that a real tattoo has been applied. Sadly,
some people have tried to fool us by applying fake tattoos, but
I must warn you that our four man board are extremely diligent and
can recognise a fake tattoo very easily. If your tattoo shop need
it, we are happy to provide them with payment for their services
and allowing you to take photographs. Payment to the tattoo shop
can be up to US $1,000. If you provide us with a receipt after the
tattoo has been applied we will send payment to them immediately
the photographs have been received.
We require at minimum for you to send by email attachment HIGH QUALITY
PHOTOGRAPHS of the following:
1. The first stage of the tattoo being applied to the inductee.
If possible, photographs showing the tattoo artist actually applying
the tattoo would give great encouragement to the board members.
2. Photographs of the tattoo immediately after it has been completed,
so that the board members will be able to ascertain it is real because
of normal scarring or marking.
3. Photographs taken 24 hours later, showing the healed tattoo.
It is your decision what colour to make the tattoo, but please ensure
you choose a colour which can be photographed clearly. Most of our
members choose to have a black tattoo applied.
Again, it is entirely your decision what part of your body to have
the tattoo applied to. All you need to do is ensure the tattoo is
large and clear enough to be photographed clearly. Places that our
members usually choose are: arms, top of the legs, or back shoulders.
I must stress to you again that the tattoo must be real, and the
photographs you send will be inspected very carefully to ensure
that they are. I am sorry that I have to keep repeating this to
you brother Sadiq but as I have already told you, sadly there are
ungodly people out in the world who try to take advantage of our
church by applying for donations by sending in fake photographs,
this is why it is very important that the photographs you send by
email attachment are very large and clear so that the validity of
the tattoos can be checked easily. Poor quality or small images
will be rejected by the board members.
Once we have received satisfactory photographs from you, we will
then send you a copy of the church induction application form. This
is a very simple form which the applicant must complete ad sign
with their name and date. Once the form has been returned to us
then your donation payment can be processed within 24 hours and
sent to you by whichever method best suits your means. I offer one
piece of advice brother Sadiq; the board members usually give larger
donations depending on the size of the tattoo. So the larger the
tattoo the larger the donation payment is liable to be, but the
very minimum we send to help is $20,000 so as you can so you will
be able to do a lot of very good work with such an amount. Of course,
once you become a member you will be invited to our yearly gathering
here in the UK (your flight fees and expenses will of course be
paid by us) and you will be able to meet many of our members and
well as myself.
I hope that explains things clearly to you brother Sadiq, and if
you have any questions please feel free to contact me any time.
Please will you reply to this email as soon as possible to let me
know when you expect to be able to email me the photographs. The
four board members work all across the UK so they will need to be
gathered to examine your photographs and make the donation payment.
This may take 2 or 3 days, so if I know in advance when you are
likely to be ready to send the photographs I can ensure that the
board members are gathered together in readiness for your photographs.
Please also let me know by what means you would prefer the donation
payment to be made.
God be with you,

The tattoo and its markers are the best we can boast of down
here in my country having 4 pictures to show for the 4 stages. they
are all attached.
Finally Father, graciously, i have done my part. All is now left
for you. considering all my efforts in this pursuit, my travel documents
being deposited, my great commitment to every principle of yours
right from the inception, all i plead now is for a favourable consideration.
i have always trusted in you, i know you will not fail me. I
can't guarantee that I'm afraid Ahmed.
thanks a lot
Great pictures, and slightly painful looking too. I'll congratulate
Ahmed on his work shortly.
The original pictures Ahmed sent were pretty sall,
so I demanded larger ones (which you see above).

Dear Brother Sadiq,
Thank you for sending in the newly scanned pictures. I can confirm
to you that the size and quality are now acceptable to us.
My apologies for the late reply however I had to pay a short visit
to our local hospital as I have not been feeling very well for the
past few days and it was discovered that I had managed to contract
a serious tribble infection in my stomach. Fortunately I received
treatment in time and I am now feeling almost back to normal. This
is the reason for my delay in replying back to you.
Now that you have sent in acceptable photograph I am now passing
your case over to father Jack Hackett who is head of the charity
awards division of our church. He will be the person in charge of
making the payment to you and he will contact you soon to make arrangements
for the payment. I expect him to contact you in the next 24 hours.
Blessings,
Father Bruce Corbin
