Subject: Amsterdam trip to Security Company

Dear Mr Rudolph Sherman,

Rev. Simon Templar has informed me that you have come to an agreement with him and the upshot is that I have to proceed as you have asked me to do to come to Amsterdam to retrive the Packages of Mrs Tracy Hatch from the security company.

He will indicate the date after which I shall book the tickets to Amsterdam and back. However, I would like to do a little advance planning.

Either the man I am going to meet at the airport must have a photo of mine and hold up a placard with my name so that I do not have to wander about looking for him, or I must be given a photo of the man who will be at the airport to meet me. This is to make sure that I do not go with somebody else by mistake. Emails are not very secure and somebody might be monitoring our conversation unknown by ourselves. In that case, somebody might meet with me at the airport and claim to be your man and then obtain the money fraudulently. As I like to take good care of my money I would like the matter of identification to be arranged forehand so that such mistakes do not arise.

In my years in business, success has always depended on the dealings being smoothed over with what I like to call "sweet deals." On a deal of this magnitude, some small gifts to the officials in charge really work to get the business done fast and to our advantage. I shall of course expect the expenses upon this to be met from the 5% set apart for the expenses. Please tell me what gifts I must bring with me so that the persons handling this deal can all be gratified.

I can bring along a brand new laptop and a camera mobile phone. I do not use mobile phones or any other phones because I can only speak in a whisper due to a recent accident. One or two watches, too, I can bring without getting too much difficulty with the customs. Just tell me whether there are any lady officials to be gratified so that I can wear a chain and bracelet I can gift to somebody.

In short, everything is ready for the trip to Amsterdam, all it needs now is for Rev. Simon to give the word.

I am waiting, Mr Sherman, for your input on all these.

Yours faithfully,

Bigglesworth

Since five years now of my duties i never experience failure, all i executes always comes out in favour of my clients. God is always with me, and i am greatiful to him. Today i will be visiting my client at the hospital for certain reasons before commencing on Rev. Simon request later today.

Addition to this, I must make it clear to you that I welcome your ideals for the purchasing of gift items to the officials of the security firm. These shows sign of appreciation for all their efforts towards this noble mission and they will be please to work efficiency during your three days visit. I will advise here that you handle a laptop and camera phone to the director (Mr. Mike Adams) himself, two mens wrist watches and one female watch which you will give to the officers that will attend to you at the airport or the office. Another point of view, you should write to mike Adams regarding your preparedness of coming and ask about how to identify the officers that will recieve you at the airport to avoid involved in a wrong hand. I am sure he will be entitle to furnish all you need to know about your arrival point. In this i will also write to him on your behalf as your attorney to give me maximum gurantee of your safty arrival and your three days stay in Amsterdam.

Lets cross our fingers together and make things work fast as we expected. How much is for a brand new laptop and a camera digital mobile phone? May God guide all our actions towards this noble mission! Amen.

I wil be expecting to hear from you soonest.

Yours Sincerely,
Barrister Rudolph Sherman.

Hi Rudolph,

I am going away on vacation today, to Florida to visit my sister. I had to give up my car today and I intend to buy a new one when I get back.

In the meantime, if Biggles does not come your way, just tell me and I shall try to make it up. I can raise about 6000 euro now that I have the money from selling the car.

My sister has said that the phone lines and electricity were down in that area due to the recent storms so I might not be able to contact you for a few days.

I shall, however, monitor this email as soon as I can access email.

Your face was so much in shadow in that last picture. Could I have a photo which shows you in better light? Just asking.

'bye for the present,

Patricia.

Dearest Pat,
Thamks for your mail, now that you finally sold your car and raise of to 6,000 euro, it will be favourable we use your vacation period to proceed to Amsterdam. Maybe in one week time and clear this project once and for all because i do not see any light from the Biggles gang hence they sent mails of unfulfill conditions and promises.

Make up your mind honey, a stitch in time saves nine. I ask you in my previous mail can you come to Nigeria before we proceed to Amsterdam but you couldn't answer that, why?

Always try to get intouch with me and give this project serious attention my dear, this is our life time oppurtunity, it comes but once.

Have a lovely day and safty journey to Florida.

Yours,
Rudolph.
A big mistake, giving Pat her car money at this point. Rudolph intends to lure Pat to Nigeria for a grab and a nookie. If Biggles goes to Amsterdam I think his cut is going to be maybe a thousand. A Pat in Lagos is now worth six Biggles in 'Dam.

Hi Rudolph,

I'm in town and checking the mail from the place of a friend of my sister's. It will be at least three weeks before I shall be able to get the means to travel. My sister's house has a damaged roof from the recent hurricane and I chipped in all I had so that she could get it repaired immediately.

It is covered by insurance so she will get the money back eventually. But it has to be repaired immediately otherwise more of the structure will get damaged and that damage is not covered under the insurance.

It was sure lucky I had the money to help her, we are right now staying at a hotel while the house gets repaired by the contractors.

Anyway it sure was a kind of start for my holiday because my plans of travel have been ruined but I'm enjoying the different environment and anyway I do not have to go to work for the rest of the month.

I shall write to you when we get the money back if you still need it for that project. But I do not think that will be necessary because once Biggles sets his mind to do something he does it very efficiently.

Pat

Dear Mr. Mike Adams,

I intend to be in Amsterdam around the first week of next month. It all depends upon the outcome of a deal worked out between Barr. Sherman and Rev. Templar, but as soon as the Reverend gives me the go-ahead I shall fix my programme and purchase the tickets.

This program is directly under the control of the Rev. Simon Templar. I am just acting as his agent. Anyway, I shall be glad to get it over with immediately and return to my regular business.

I have asked the Barrister if I could bring any gifts to sweeten the deal, so that the paperwork gets done smoothly. Perhaps you can suggest what items I can bring, without getting into trouble at the customs.

My experience has been that they get very suspicious if they find more than one of any electronic white goods on a person.

Therefore, you must guide me on distributing the limited number of gifts I am able to bring to make the maximum possible goodwill on the officials involved in the sanctioning of this transfer.

Hoping to meet you soon,

Bigglesworth

Dear Mrs Tracy Hatch,

It is part of our mission to help the poor and the sick. We come to find, from reading your mails, that you do not have the sufficient finances in hand even though your husband's funds are in the security company at Amsterdam.

Mr. Bigglesworth has recommended that we get a small inital donation from you as a token of sincerity and as the first part of the donation. The other members of the church committee are together agreed on this, that we must make any move only after the initial donation from your side.

Your barrister has not been very helpful in all this. I would recommend you find somebody else to represent your interests. I told him to advance $100 to a church in India so that we could move forward. He has gone off with that and never written back. In my opinion he does not have your interests at heart even though he stands to gain about $300,000 from handling your deal. You are better with another barrister, if you can find one.

In fact I have told Mr Biggles to be ready to go to Amsterdam with 10,000 euro to liberate your money. He has agreed to go. The only thing standing in the way is the reluctance of your barrister to mail the $100 to some poor church in India.

Find some other barrister. I cannot overrule the decisions of my church committee. But I can help you in a small way. One of our parishioners has a need to donate a small amount to charity. It has to go to a bonafide charitable purpose. If you can find some other barrister, and get a Donation Account Number assigned, you will be bonafide member of our church and I shall have no objection to making you an advance payment towards your hospital expenses. I think you did express some such wish a few mails back.

I do not have any more faith in your barrister, Mr. Rudolph Sherman.

So, this is what you should do:
Get the church address from Rudolph (or ask me) Send them $100 as previously agreed (or ask me for details)
Send me the name and address of some trustworthy person close to you, you can trust (not your barrister)

As soon as your DAN is assigned I shall send that person a sum of $1,500 towards your hospital expenses. It is a very small amount, but it is all I can make available at the moment. Larger sums need the approval of the committee.

So, ask your present barrister to get your DAN assigned from our church. If he still doesn't do it get rid of him. Find some other efficient person. As soon as the DAN is assigned Mr Biggles shall go to Amsterdam and I shall send you a small sum as relief.

Let me hear from you, Mrs Tracy Hatch.

We are praying for you every day. We look upon your smiling face and say your pretty name and ask the good Lord to make you better. Ask him so yourself, dear Mrs Hatch. Ask him that his wish be done. And ask that your wishes and His wishes become one.

May our prayers be answered, and soon, Amen.

Sir,

With due respect, I recieve a mail from Mrs. Tracy Hatch doctor. It was a mail which you wrote to my client that was forwarded to me by the doctor who got access mostly to my client e-mail address as he was permited by Mrs. Hatch due to her present condition which denied her mostly ability to type mail. However to the content of your mail to my client, i would like to on behalf of my client to thank you for your effort towards this noble mission and your concern & prayers over her unhealthy condition. Also thank you for taking it upon yourself by reasoning to make effort to secure her fund to offset some hospital expenses.God bless your soul.

Now to the content of your mail concerning your complain of my ineffeciency in this project, including your advise to Mrs. Hatch to appoint another lawyer or trustee for this noble mission. I was indeed saddened that you seems not to understood all my helping hands to this woman. Towards my visit last week which i informed you on my last mail before going,as i indicated in my last mail that my client will be willing to pray over the donation money before mailing it to the church of Indian as you instructed. In view of this, towards my arrival to the hospital, it was a bad situation for Mrs. Hatch. She was lying down, breathing abnormally, inability to talk and restless. The situation touched me, is not what i will allow the doctors to do alone which i suspect she undergo spiritual attack or something else.

Tantamount to this ugly situation Rev. Simon,i had over spent what i was not budgetted for including her medical bill and bringing her down to Christ Embassy church with the help of hospital diplomatic ambulance bus at once for prayers and deliverance. Her stay throughout in the church cost me, i had to spent so much above my limitation.I do not surpose to inform you all this because your not my God but situation warrant this.

I sincere accepted of making out the donation on behalf of my client, God knows that i love her and cares for her as i can do to myself.Remember i confide to you that Mrs Hatch owes our law firm so much money and because of i know what she has been going through presently financially and also with my relationship with the late husband. It would be humane of me to abandon her at this stage, after all her expenses and triumph over her health and this noble mission.

Indeed, i am not working because of my benefit promised by your church committee which you stated but for God says love your neighbour as yourself. I work this for God favour in my life. I am a true christain, don't look upon me like other dubbious lawyers. I am contempted with what i have, I plead with you liaise with her to see what you can do to help her. I don't have to inform you hear how much i have spent through out this few days, it's not necessary. I have workers who are under me waiting for their wages to be paid I am in a tight corner but i put my trust and faith in God, he will rescue me out of this troubles and distress.

I expect & pray you would give necessary attention to this matter so as to bail her from hypentension and other situation. Once again thanks for honouring this nobel mission and given taught to assist this great woman towards her destitute upon a succour from you.

Await your urgent co-operation.

Barrister Rudolph Sherman.

Dear Rudolph Sherman,

We are all waiting for just that one gesture of trust from you. You can start the process by sending the first instalment of donation as we have spelled out to you.

If you do not wish to proceed according to the directions issued to you there is no point in continuing this correspondence. It gives me great grief to be abandoning a person in need, but you are much nearer to her than I am, and what we have asked you to do is truly insignificant in proportion of the total amount of donation.

Since you do not wish to honour our wishes we do not see any point in continuing to hold your hopes up. You may find somebody else more compliant to your wishes and do your business with him.

Accept the blessings from the Lord, perhaps it is his wish that we do not consummate this donation.

Dear Mrs Tracy Hatch,

Your barrister, Mr Rudolph Sherman, had written to me about my previous letter. No wonder you are in a bad mood when he comes. That man is an absolute fool and a time-waster. I had suggested various schemes so that I could help your cause. That man said yes to all and then did absolutely nothing.

Our missionaries, Mr. Leslie Charteris and Fr. Claude Eustace Teal are due to return in about two or three weeks. They might be persuaded to visit you on their return journey. Then they can get the donation agreement signed by your own hand, Mrs Tracy Hatch, and satisfy themselves about the genuineness of the situation.

So Kindly write to me with the name and address of the Hospital where you are undergoing treatment, Mrs Tracy Hatch. Since your barrister is no good at taking care of you and he is unwilling to spare $100 for your sake we have to take an interest in your affairs.

I know this introduces even more delay into the works. You can get the money I promised earlier if you persuade that barrister to send $100 to India, as he promised so in some five or six emails ( and still haven't done so) and sending me the name and address of some willing and trusted man who can go to Western Union and collect payment on your behalf.

The Lord values your physical well-being over your spiritual well-being, Mrs Tracy Hatch. The Good Lord Jesus healed the sick people and only then did he tell them to obey God.

Praying for your good Health,

Simon Templar

Dear Rudolph Sherman,

Mr. Leslie Charteris called me from India with the news that the package has been delivered to the Pastor. Fr. Teal shall visit the Church next Sunday and preach there. They shall verify the contents of the package and get back to me with the report.

On 19th evening I shall have their report in my hands. You must be patient till then.

A parishioner of mine has expressed a wish to help Mrs Tracy Hatch. He wishes to know the hospital in which she is undergoing treatment and the regimen of drugs she is taking at present.

Kindly send me those details so that I can forward them. I could probably contact some of my missionary friends in Nigeria and ask them to visit Mrs Tracy Hatch and pray for her.

I am glad that this is going forward as planned. Mr Biggles is planning to go to Amsterdam sometime during the last week of this month.

Accept the blessings from Lord, dear barrister.

Simon Templar

My friend in India has sent me confirmation that the Pastor received the package, opened it and found a 100 dollar bill and the letter as I've dictated inside. The money goes into the new church being built. (A mason gets paid five dollars a day.) I'm putting the lad on ice for a week.

Hello Sherman,

I only recently got my laptop back because it was kept for custody in the hotel safe and we went on a trip and only recently got back. I looked through all the photos I had taken and I decided to delete all my photos I took back then in the office when there was nobody around because they were too silly. I must have been mad when I took them that way. I am attaching one beause it is not too bad and anyway I think you asked me for a full length one.

Please send me one photo of yours. I the last photo that you sent me your face was so much in the shadow.

I am happy that you show concern over the way Biggles wrote about me but that is all right. He used to threaten to fire everyone in the office when he was not pleased with the way things were going. He was a bit more careful with his language after his accident and he met the saint and got converted and anyway he could only write his bad language anyway. In the good old days especially in the evening after he had a bit to drink he used to curse and abuse everyone over any silly thing but he used to apologise the day after.

I am again looking forward to a bit of travel. How good is the sightseeing in Nigeria? Isn't there a wildlife park or something of that sort there? If you could be my guide I might think of coming to Nigeria for a week or so.

I hope your business with Biggles is going on smoothly. I do not write to him or give him my email because he might get mad and really send away that new secretary and then he would get me to cancel my vacation and join duty immediately.

Please do send me a better photo of yourself.

Pat
I attach the third picture in the series.

I am very glad you make up your mind coming to Nigeria, i assure you maximum security over your visit and i will take good care of you as you will never expected. My love, my dealings with Biggles and the saint is not bringing any progress. I see no light / conclussion in it, I was press to make donation to their church on behalf of Mrs. Tracy Hatch which i did by sending some amount of dollars to them. Uptill now they keep promising without making moves, i am seek and tired.

I was communicating with Mike Adams towards this project and he has confide to me that all depends on your ability to work things out, meaning they can help out making the fund to you online banking which attract you to open non residential account via Amsterdam to transfer the fund to your home account by batches. This idea is good Pat, please i will like you to indicate in your nexte mail if you are going to work this out with me or not?

Your picture you sent to me was not properly scanned and i was not able to see you fully it was divided into two pics. Do not stress yourself much to send me another if your not chance to repeat that again. I think the last picture i sent to you which you complained not vividly enough, Pat i am not always free all time to work into studio and snap pictures and i do not have digital camera to snap myself which would have been preferable. Maybe i will do that in the nearest time ok. Hope your not sad?

Please inform me when you will be coming to Nigeria to enable me schedule my duties here and give much concentration that you never had from anyone else. Looking forward to have you in my arms my queen.

Extend my greetings to your aunty and i hope that the hurricane that occured last do not affect you and her? I had that on news two days ago.

Teal lowered his eyelids a fraction. He looked sleepy. He ambled back to the table, took a bar of Wrigley and unwrapped it. "Go on," He said.

O.K. Here goes that silly picture request:
From: Patricia Holm

Organization: Bigglesworth Aviation
Subject: My trip to Lagos, Nigeria and Amsterdam

Hi Rudolph,

We received the insurance money so if your offer is still open and Biggles has not yet come to Amsterdam could we proceed with our plans as we have mapped out earlier? I could come to Lagos to stay a week of sightseeing and maybe go to Amsterdam.

I can now raise about 7500 euro. There used to be more, but I went on a tour of some gambling casinos with a group of friends I recently met and I lost about a thousand dollars. Since I am on vacation I think I am spending my money a little too fast. Maybe I shouldn't have sold my car just before going on vacation.

I think I need to get away for a while. These girls are urging me to have another go to win back the money I have lost. It is fun playing for luck but at the end the luck seems to run out.

And another thing. I showed your pictures to a friend of mine and she said some things which made me feel confused. You might feel I am being a bit silly but anyway I am some times very silly and foolish.

She said that the two pictures you had sent me might not really be yours. She said that you might have taken the two pictures from somewhere, probably some good looking actor or model and sent it to me as your own. She said that the only way I could be sure of your identity was to get a photo posed in a certain way or with a password we have previously agreed on.

I said then, and thought that she was just being too paranoid. I mean, there should be no reason for you to pull off a deception of that sort, is there?

But then, thinking it over, I am now thinking that she might have a point. I mean, If I come over to Nigeria looking for you based on someone else's photograph then I can't trust you in anything else, can I?

So my apologies to you, Dear Rudolph, if what I propose might seem somewhat unusual or unwarranted but it is all about building up trust. In building up trust that you are really what you claim to be. Then I shall be able to book my ticket for Lagos with a peaceful mind.

I have attached a picture with this mail. It is something Mr Charteris sent me weeks ago, saying it was "Praise the Lord" in the local language where they were preaching at the time. He wanted me to print it out to use as a bookmark or something.

Please print that out on a large sheet of paper and send me a photograph of yourself holding it. I am sorry, Rudolph, that this request might seem to be extremely odd but my friend here insists that you are fake and that you will not be able to come up with that photo. She wants me to forget you and go play at the casinos with her. Come to think of it, it was she who caused me to drop such a large amount the last time I went there, too.

I am waiting to see your photo, so that I can put my mind at rest and book my flight ticket to Lagos.

I have the money so tell me if I should bring any so that I can get a share of that 35% of that Tracy Hatch's consignment money. I do not wish to upset Biggles' dealings on this affair, so please do not bother with that if Biggles has arranged the deal himself.

With love,

Patricia Holm

Dear Pat,

I got your mail and i am not happy with you, In such transaction is not what you have to announce to friends. You are to keep everything intight till you achieve your aims because no friend will be happy seeing you achieving such golden oppurtunity rather they may like to lure into dirty games as they did to you previously which you lost a thousand of dollar. Pat you are giving me condition so much in this project and i hate someone with doubting mind, i have sent you my two pictures which i do not suppose to because of the line of my duty as a barrister. I am guranttee you again that you are dealing with right person and i will remain faithful and sincere. Mr. Charteris and Rev. Simon requested proof of my duty and sincerely to them i did it by donating money to their beneficiary church in Indian including my client picture which has been furnish to them also and they confirm that all is good with me but uptill now they are unable to fulfil their promise.

Now, you are requesting and given me conditions which i do not like, i ask you to visit me in Lagos to make this trip together, if i am not faithful and sincere why should i invite you? I want you to believe me and ripe this oppurtunity with me so as we can be together. But if you are still doubting me because i do not send you more pictures, i will advise you to follow that your so call unreliable friend to play more casino and loose more money. You sent me several pictures i do not give you specific condition, i could have said that you got those pictures from somewhere but i did not, i believe you apart from your pictures. I have given enough proof and my ability to this project. Pat, do not loose this oppurtunity because what friends say, no one will advise you better when they see you growing rich. She ask you to invest the money in gambling that we make you lost all money and you are adjhereing to those advise. You better revise back from that before it will be late.

I wait your reply and i hope you have to trust me and remove that atom of doubtness because i do not send you picture with your request, i do not valid such as proof of sincere. I will be waiting your flight schedule so soon and i gurantee you safty and good time.I will be waiting to receive you at the airport.

Rudolph,

I'm now on vacation. I am spending time with friends and enjoying myself. I was thinking of coming to Lagos to have fun, mainly. And then maybe go to Amsterdam if that opportunity was still open.

I select my friends based on their similiarity of interests to mine. When I ask you for a simple picture you are going all uptight and saying you are a lawyer and so you cannot accommodate me.

Suit yourself. When I go to casinos to play I am having fun. I just have happened to fall in with friends who share my interests, who share my idea of having fun. If you go so uptight about a small wish of mine then it seems that you are not my type, Rudolph. I am not asking a picture of Rudolph the Barrister. I am just asking for a picture of Rudolph the man. With a small means of identification. If you think that this is something which you do not like then there will be many things about me which you are not going to like.

So, I am as yet undecided whether I should book my tickets for Lagos. My friend might be a scatterbrain, and urge me to do things that are unwise, but her advice that I must know more about you before committing a trip to your country is sound advice. I have to think long and hard about it.

If you cannot take such things in the spirit of fun I think you and I will not get along well, so it might be better that we confine our relationship to email.

Miraculously, she is still alive - on 28th May, her doctors had told her that she would not last three months due to her cancer problem, though what disturbed her most was her stroke. Now, four and a half months later, she is well enough to sit up and shout.

An excuse - any excuse - for not calling him.

Dear Rudolph,

I have been trying to call your number all day. However, the telephone service in this area has been disrupted due to the recent storms and the services are only now being restored and in almost all cases I get the recorded announcement that the service to that area is not obtainable.

It seems that I shall not be able to call long distance from the place in Florida I am staying at present. I shall keep trying.

But don't let it keep you back.

Pat.

Subject: My Vacation

Dear Rudolph,

I am getting back to work on 15th. I obtained leave for a few days more on account of the trouble in Florida. So if I have to make a trip to Lagos or Amsterdam it will have to be done soon.

However, you have been reacting the way my friend said you would - your refusal to send me the photo proves that there is something you are hiding behind.

It is not about a photo. It is about trust, and that is something which does not mean a photo or a phone call. Since I do not like to associate with people I do not trust, I have struck Lagos and Amsterdam off the list of places to visit for now. Next time, maybe.

Hope you will understand.

Pat.

Simon's voice droned on and on. Teal's head drooped. He slumped forward, then slithered off the chair onto the floor.

Patricia helped the Saint carry the motionless detective down the stairs. They splashed through three inches of water to a heavy chair screwed to the floor. Teal was arranged on this, and arms and legs strapped securely in.

They went back up.

The tide was coming in.
