TITLE: Art For Art's Sake
SCAMMER NAME: Alexander Ofuonyead
SCAMMER LOCATION: Lagos, Nigeria
SCAMBAITER: Shiver Metimbers

Alexander Ofuonyead is yet another donation scammer, requesting help for a non-existent cause. He also apparently owns a large company. I quote from his website description:

"exquisitexxxxxxxx.8m.com is a trailblazer in the special events design,we design, markets and advertise. We are a team of experts and talented individuals in different fields coming together in forming what is know today as Exquisite xxxxxxxx. As one of the most prominent full-service production companies in the country, our allure draws a host of corporate clients from across the nation and overseas. Whether you’re planning an event in any part of the country, or anywhere in the world, Exquisite xxxxxxxxl and its team of experts will make it unforgettable."

Seems times are hard for Alexander's company as he is trying to sting me for a donation. But why doesn't he introduce himself to me as the maverick head of a super multinational company?!

Subject: Calvary greetings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Dear Brethren,

Calvary greetings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,By the grace of God? We are BAND OF DAVID here in Nigeria. We are a group
talented belevers? from diffrent churches here,we are called by Our lord Jesus christ to preach the word through praises and worship? to all nation of the earth.

"COME INTO GODâ?TS PRESENCE WITH JOYFUL SONGS!"

The book of Psalms in the Holy Bible is a rich resource for understanding praise and worship. In Psalms100 we are told to "Come into Godâ?Ts presence with joyful
songs!" Here we BAND OF DAVID EXQUISITE GLOBAL INT. praise is central to our congregational life. We gather together to celebrate Godâ?Ts love through Jesus Christ in joyful song. We liken our worship experience to a journey. Offering thanksgiving and praise through joyful song leads us into Godâ?Ts presence where worship then is in order.

Psalm 100 continues in verse 4 saying, "Enter Godâ?Ts gates with thanksgiving and Godâ?Ts courts with praise." Music alone is not our approach to God but it is
through musical praise. Psalms 22 verse 3 says God inhabits (or lives in) the praises of Godâ?Ts people. If we draw near to God, God will draw near to us. (James 4:8)
Through praise and worship we encounter God and experience Godâ?Ts goodness. We believe in the transforming power of Godâ?Ts glory and presence. During
times of praise and worship,it is the testimony of many that they experience emotional and physical healing, deliverance and salvation. As lives are transformed in the
presence of God, victories are won over areas of continual defeat, sorrows and depression are exchanged for gladness and joy.

The above convoluted mess and odd characters are what you get when you cut and paste stuff from the net without actually checking the contents!

At BAND OF DAVID INT.our celebratory worship to God, though called "Charismatic" actually predates the Charismatic movement. It is biblically based and is expressed through singing, shouting and dancing; through the clapping and lifting of hands, and the playing of musical instruments. Sounds like a damn good gig to me Alexander .

Hence we are writing to establish relationship with your group/Church, so as to making? our DREAM A REALITY.Together we can work to propagate the word of Our Lord Jesus Christ as stated in Mathews 24:14,EXD 15 vs2,det. 3vs 3, psm 34 vs 1, And psm95 vs6.? so that together we can preach the gospel to all part of the world.

OK, God loves us all and lets rejoice. What do you want Alexander?

However, we would appreciate any helping hand financially to bring our mission and vision to past as we are planning to organise a musical concert where ministration through praise and worship will be competed among youths. We look forward to establishing a wonderful relationship with you soon. Remain blessed in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Cash - what else?!

We can be reached on the follwing:

Lets slip into my familiar guise of Derek Trotter and his fine arts dealership.

Dear Mr. Ofuonyeadi,

Thank you so much for your very nice email, and I am impressed by your work, however I am afraid that I will be unable to help you at this time.

Let me introduce myself. My name is Derek Trotter and I am the director of Trotter Fine Arts Dealer and Art Scholarships. We are dealers in fine art and ethnic art from all over the world and we supply many business and private customers. We also offer scholarship donations to aid up and coming new artists who may otherwise not have the financial means to be able to produce or improve their work. Our scholarship payments range from between $20,000 and $150,000 depending on the potential of the artist.

We are already registered in the UK as a Christian charity and annually give charitable donations to UK causes, however strict UK laws mean that we are unable to give outside the UK, I am sorry.

However if you have any contacts who have artists who you think may benefit from our financial help then I would be very interested to be put in touch with them. We are very keen on promoting new artists and will be happy to offer a very generous scholarship package to young or old artists with good potential. If you have an artist as part of your ministry who could benefit from our financial help then indeed we could help you that way.

Again I am sorry I cannot help you with your main request but I wish you luck in finding somebody to help you.

Kind regards,

Dear Mr. Ofuonyeadi,

Thank you for your email.

You are truly working for a great cause and if indeed you have a fine artist who can possibly be helped by a donation from our foundation then indeed I am sure that we can help you. There are of course rules and procedures that must be followed before we are able to make a artist donation payment, but you will find it a very simple and quick procedure. I will outline below what will be required.

1. Before we could make any kind of monetary payment to your artist we would of course require proof of his abilities. We do not ask artists to send in prepared samples of their work because of course there is no way for our foundation to know if the painting is indeed the artists own work, therefore we would require your artist to provide a new sample for us to evaluate his abilities.

2. My company will submit to you (by email attachment) a sample photograph. This may be of a person, a building or other such item. Your artist would then be required to paint or draw (IN COLOUR) a copy of the image we send to you. Once the artist has completed the work it is to be sent to us for evaluation and then a donation amount would be awarded according to the skill or potential of the artist. Our donation payment range from between $20,000 and $150,000.

3. On receipt of a satisfactory picture, your artist would be require to complete a small form. This is a very simple form and basically just needs to be signed by the artists and he has to agree to let Trotters Fine Arts become owners of any samples submitted.

Once the form has been returned then it is just a simple matter of your artist telling us by what manner he or she wished to receive that payment and it will be sent within 24 hours of receiving the completed form.

Please note that no payments whatsoever can be given in advance of receiving the artwork.

I hope that is clear to you Mr. Ofuonyeadi, and if you are in agreement to the terms above please let me know as soon as possible and I will arrange for a sample picture to be sent to you by email attachment.

Kind regards,

Dear Mr. Ofuonyeadi,

Please find attached to this email for sample images. Give one each to your artists to reproduce. Each image has been specially selected to show off various skill of your artists, ranging from still life, animal, and cartoon art. If you have more artists willing to submit their work, please let me know and I will forward some other sample images. Please note the following rules:

1. The MINIMUM completed picture size must be 14 by 14 inches, however as long as they are bigger than this they can be any size your artists choose.
2. The paintings or drawings must be in COLOUR
3. The paintings/Drawing must be the artists own work by hand and NOT traced in any way.

Attention to detail is extremely important and will help my board members to judge the skill of the artists. Ensure they take care to include as much detail in their artwork as possible.

You may tell your artists that the pictures can be painted on any type of surface, such as paper or canvas. Please bear in mind that the artwork will have to be shipped to us for inspection, so obviously you must take into consideration the weight of the artwork so that the shipping cost is not to high for you.

On receipt of satisfactory artwork we will then judge the skill level of the artist submissions and will reward them with a monetary donation depending of their skill. As mentioned previously, the minimum donation amount per artist is $20,000 but this can rise up to $150,000 per artist depending on their skill. Note that my board member will usually pay higher amounts for paintings rather than drawings. Donation payments are usually given within 24 hours of receiving the artwork.

Please note that your shipping charges will also be refunded in full, however we can only refund shipping charged AFTER we receive the artwork.

If you have any further questions at all please do not hesitate to get back in contact with me. Also, please let me know when you expect to have the artwork ready for shipping.

Dear Mr. Ofuonyeadi,

I am please to report that your artwork was received a short while ago, thank you, I have now had the opportunity of examining the artwork that you sent to me.

I have to be truthful and tell you I was highly disappointed when I opened the package. I do no know who packaged the painting for you but they rolled up the canvas for easier packaging, and it seems that this caused some damage to the artwork during shipping. The packaging itself was not damaged in any way, so it was not the fault of the courier, however on examining the pictures there appear to be several parts of the picture that are torn, and some of the paint has come off many parts of the picture. I suspect that a major cause of this problem was because the artwork was rolled up instead of being shipped flat. You doofus!

I have included photographs of the artwork so that you can examine the damage for yourself.

I am afraid that there is no way that we can accept such work presented in this way, however I do have some small piece of good news for you. My board members did try to examine as much of the pictures as they could and disregarding the obvious damage on the whole they were very impressed with the artwork. I have been authorised by my board members that subject to us receiving acceptable artwork of the same standard we can offer you a scholarship/donation payment of US $37,850.

However this payment can only be made to you on receipt of *undamaged* artwork, so if you still wish to claim the $37,850 then you will need to submit two more pieces of artwork, but this time hopefully undamaged.

I am sorry to give you such bad news Mr. Ofuonyeadi, and I am quite sure that you were not yourself responsible for the poor packaging.

If you would like to submit two more pieces of artwork to receive your payment please let me know as soon as possible. We will have to send you by email attachment two more sample images. We cannot use the same ones that have already been sent to you for certain operational and submission procedures.

Please note that if you do decide to submit more artwork you will need to act quickly. I am leaving for Singapore in early December and I will not return until January 23rd next year, so if you wish to receive the $37,850 before then you will have to act swiftly.

I must tell you,i was the person that parkaged the art work, so i can never pass the fult to any other person, so i am very sorry for all that happen.

If you would like to submit two more pieces of artwork to receive your payment please let me know as soon as possible. We will have to send you by email attachment two more sample images. We cannot use the same ones that have already been sent to you for certain operations and rules reasons.

ANS:
I will like you to please send the money used to send the parkage to you, andalso send something to the boys, you know the kind of project i am into, so they will not see this the way you and i are seeing it now, so i will want you to think about this and see what you can do from your own side.

Dear Mr. Ofuonyeadi,

I have not used ANY bad language towards you. I have been extremely civil and respectful to you and I take great offence in your attitude. Do you expect me NOT to be disappointed when I open a package and see rubbish?

I did NOT say the work was bad, in fact I said the following "very impressed with the artwork". Please ensure you read my emails correctly.

On to your other comments:

>ANS: I think that it will wise that you send somthing to the boys so as to motivate them, and make them see reason why they should put more effort, and for me, i have taken note of the parkage, and i have it will not happen again.,but like i said it will be wise you and your board send them some thing to should that you care for the up coming artist.

We do not pay for damaged goods Mr. Ofuonyeadi. If I sent you a glass vase and it was broken on arrival, would you pay me for it? No, of course you would not.

Why should my company pay for the mistake that one of your people have made? It is NOT my company's fault the artwork was packaged so poorly. It is NOT my company's fault that the artwork was damaged. My company do NOT pay for other people's mistakes, I am sorry.

>ANS:Yes for the US $37,850, it is ok, but like i said, it will be wise that something is give to us down here, for what it is and making us believe in your vision.

The $37,850 is our offer for UNDAMAGED artwork and again to repeat a very early email to you, we do not pay any money in advance until we received completed and undamaged artwork. The $37,850 is on the table waiting for your artwork to be resubmitted. Take it or leave it.

>ANS:I will like you to please send the money used to send the package to you, and also send something to the boys, you know the kind of project i am into, so they will not see this the way you and i are seeing it now, so i will want you to think about this and see what you can do from your own side.

Again, it is my company's policy that we do not pay for damaged goods.

I am sorry for your predicament Mr. Ofuonyeadi but you must try to understand my position. We are ready to send your people an exceedingly generous donation package, but all we have received from you so far is damaged goods which really is of no use to us whatsoever and is really only good for throwing into the bin. There is no other business on this planet that would pay for damaged goods.

Respectfully I shall state my position to you once more; the board members have agreed to pay your artists $37,850 on receipt of two samples of undamaged artwork. There can be no advance payment. You can either accept our offer and send the artwork or I am afraid that we have no further business together.

Sincerely,

Derek Trotter

Dear Mr. Ofuonyeadi,

I was not calling the artwork rubbish, because if it had not been damaged so badly it would have been perfect, however in the condition that it is not in it is not fit for anything else.

Now Mr. Ofuonyeadi, I have seen your very impressive website, and all the great business you seem to be doing. You are obviously a person who has much money yourself, so my suggestion to you is that you give the artists some advance payment yourself, and then when I receive their completed work I will pay you and you can then retrieve your payment from the total amount.

You state some very impressive credentials on your site, and I quote, "As one of the most prominent full-service production companies in the country, our allure draws a host of corporate clients from across the nation and overseas", so I am sure paying the artists a few thousand dollars will not be any problem to you, especially as we will reimburse you once the artwork has been received.

Dear Mr. Ofuonyeadi,

I sent the package by Tribble Postal Systems Ltd. just two days after my previous email to you. I remember the day very clearly as it was the same day that myself and my wife put up our Christmas decorations. My wife in fact helped me to package up your artwork for posting back to you. In fact I took a lovely photograph that day also, which I have attached to this email for you, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I am not sure how long the package should take to deliver to Nigeria, however I will enquire with Tribble Systems in the morning and give you their reply. The trouble with Tribbles is that they do not have an online checking system, so I will call them in the morning.

Sincerely,
